MCP server · for AI assistants
Prop firm data for AI assistants
The PropFirmTrading MCP server gives AI assistants read access to the database that runs this site. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an assistant such as Claude call outside tools.
Through the server, an assistant can look up 37 prop firms across CFD, futures and crypto markets. It returns challenge prices with discount codes applied, program rules, payout terms and market statistics. The server is free, public and read-only. It needs no account, and an API key is optional.
https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcpTransport: Streamable HTTP. Authentication: none required, with an optional free API key. The server keeps no sessions and does not store the questions or arguments a client sends. Standard hosting logs record the time and path of each request, and the server logs the name of each tool called. When a request carries a key, the logs also record a short key ID, the first 8 characters after pft_, which cannot be used as a key.
What the server offers
The server has six tools. Each one answers with a one-line summary and compact JSON, so an assistant can quote the figures or build its own table from them.
list_firms
Lists every tracked firm, or the firms of one market, with the discount code, the deal, the cheapest price with the code, the Trustpilot score and the page links.
Example question: Which futures prop firms have a discount code right now?
get_firm
Returns one firm's key facts, the program table with targets, loss limits, drawdown type, consistency rule and minimum days, the payout policy and the restricted countries.
Example question: What are the drawdown rules at FundingPips?
get_discount_code
Returns a firm's code, the deal text, how to apply it, the discount page and the partner link, with the cheapest price once the code is applied.
Example question: Is there a discount code for Lucid Trading?
find_challenges
Searches every priced challenge by market, account size, budget, drawdown type and rule filters, sorted by price or by drawdown room per dollar of target.
Example question: What is the cheapest 50K futures challenge with no daily loss limit?
compare_firms
Puts two to four firms side by side, covering payout terms, trading rules, account sizes, the cheapest challenge and each firm's deal.
Example question: How do FTMO and The5ers compare on price and payouts?
get_market_stats
Returns the headline statistics from the research page, such as average challenge prices by market and the share of challenges with each drawdown type.
Example question: What does a $100K prop firm challenge cost on average?
How to connect
Most MCP clients only need the endpoint URL. The steps below cover the common clients, and any client that supports Streamable HTTP works the same way.
Claude Code
Run this command once in a terminal to add the server.
claude mcp add --transport http propfirmtrading https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcpClaude Desktop and claude.ai
Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Enter PropFirmTrading as the name and the endpoint URL above as the address, then save. No sign-in is needed.
Cursor
Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or to .cursor/mcp.json in one project.
{
"mcpServers": {
"propfirmtrading": {
"url": "https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcp"
}
}
}VS Code
Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in a workspace, then start it from the MCP servers list.
{
"servers": {
"propfirmtrading": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcp"
}
}
}Clients without remote server support
A client that only runs local servers can use the mcp-remote package. It runs a small local server that forwards each request to the endpoint, and it goes in the client's configuration file as the server's command.
{
"mcpServers": {
"propfirmtrading": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcp"]
}
}
}Optional API key
The server answers every request the same way, with a valid key or with no key. A key is free and needs no account or email address.
Some platforms need a credential before they can set up a connection, for example Vercel Connect. A key also lets PropFirmTrading count usage per app and block a single key that misuses the server.
PropFirmTrading does not store the key, so this page cannot show it again. A new key can be created at any time.
How to send the key
A client sends the key in the Authorization header of each request, with YOUR_KEY replaced by the key created above.
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEYIn Claude Code, the header is added to the same command that adds the server.
claude mcp add --transport http propfirmtrading https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"A client that cannot set the Authorization header can send the key in an X-API-Key header instead.
Creating a key from a script
A script can create a key with a POST request to the key URL. The JSON response holds the key and the header line to send.
curl -X POST https://propfirmtrading.net/api/mcp/keyA wrong or revoked key gets an error with HTTP status 401. Sending no key always works.
Some clients show a wrong key as a sign-in or authentication prompt. Removing the key header, or creating a new key, fixes it.
About the data
The server reads the same database as every page on this site, so a tool answer shows the same prices and rules as the website. The data is updated with each deployment of the site, which usually happens daily. Firms can change their terms at any time, and the firm's own terms prevail.
Prices include the PropFirmTrading discount code where a firm has one. Every answer that names a deal also carries the code, the partner link and the firm's discount page.
The statistics from get_market_stats come from the research page and are licensed CC BY 4.0. Reuse needs the attribution line "Source: PropFirmTrading (propfirmtrading.net/research), CC BY 4.0".
PropFirmTrading may earn a commission when a trader uses its links or codes. Firms cannot pay for placement, and the commission does not change the prices or rules the server returns.
