FTMO Trader Reviews 2026: What 216 Public Reviews Say
4.5

In short
Reviewers describe FTMO as the most professional operation in the space. The main complaint is a discretionary 'one-sided betting' rule that its largest earners report colliding with.
The PropFirmTrading review
FTMO has run from Prague since 2015 and sells 2-Step and 1-Step challenges from $88.42 to $1,208.84 and a new Instant account from $189.16 to $3,356.78, all on demo accounts and outside financial regulation.

FTMO's public review base scores it 4.5/5 across 216 reviews: 149 five-star, 54 four-star, and a thin but heavy tail of 11 one-star reports. The agreement in the positive columns is unusually specific for this industry. Reviewers name the same three things repeatedly:
- ›Infrastructure. Reviewers call the dashboard and analytics the best in the business, with account metrics traders use. Support response times of "seconds to minutes", including weekends, appear in review after review.
- ›A balance-based drawdown with no trailing. Swing traders pick FTMO for this: the maximum loss does not follow equity higher, so holding winners is not penalised.
- ›Execution. Competitive spreads and stable platforms across forex, indices and crypto, although a minority cite widened spreads and heavy slippage on gold during news.
The routine complaints are the price of that polish. Reviewers cite challenge fees above the discount-firm tier, no new US clients, a fixed server timezone, minimum trading days, and one month-long wait for a Normal-to-Swing account conversion.
Most of the 11 one-star reviews follow one pattern
FTMO's negative tail differs from every other firm in the PropFirmTrading data. Almost every serious dispute involves the same clause, which FTMO calls "one-sided betting" or the 1% risk-per-trade-idea guidance. Almost every complainant was a scaled, profitable, previously paid trader:
- ›A trader from Montenegro reports roughly $50,000 in completed payouts, then a "prime status" invitation, then a ban citing a trading style that "doesn't suit" the firm.
- ›A UK trader who says he spent over £53,000 on challenges documents a $19,000+ payout denial in which the stated reason changed three times. The reasons moved from "bypassing restrictions" to gold overexposure to daily-loss breaches on different accounts, with no complaint reference or named handler.
- ›A three-year veteran reports payouts flowing until roughly $20K cumulative. After that he describes escalating 1%-rule enforcement, a $2,900 denial, and a choice between losing the account or losing the payout.
- ›A Japanese trader with ten purchased challenges and several completed payouts was banned for "one-sided betting". An Australian on a $400K account agreed in writing to the 1% guidance, asked which trades triggered it, and says he never received specifics.
Two more reports completed the negative file at the July capture. One is a cross-account hedging termination that the trader disputes with timestamps. The other is an account-security case where FTMO's own breach alert did not prevent the trader being blamed.
The pattern in the data: FTMO pays smaller accounts reliably, and most complainants state that earlier payouts arrived. The risk sits at the top end. The conduct clause ("one-sided betting", "risk-per-trade idea") is not a hard number in the dashboard, and reviewers report it being applied with discretion once payouts become large. Traders planning to scale into six figures of allocation should read that clause as part of the product.
Reading the base rate
Eleven one-star reviews out of 216 is a 5.1% negative rate, still among the lower rates PropFirmTrading tracks. FTMO's review base also looks more organic than most. There is no single-month spike, reviews spread from 2024 through October 2026, and an unusually high share of four-star reviews carry specific criticism (spread width, cost, US exclusion). The complaints above are serious, and they are the tail of a firm that most reviewers, including paying customers of three years, describe as the professional benchmark.
New FTMO reports through October 2026
Eleven FTMO reviews dated after 28 July had reached the listing by 21 October 2026: eight five-star, one four-star and two one-star. The first one-star report, from 15 September, comes from a trader on a $50K 2-Step account who says the account was breached for one-sided trading and that FTMO never showed the evidence. That is the same clause behind the older disputes above, and no firm reply appeared under it on the listing. The second, posted 13 October, says FTMO refused a refund on a challenge that was never used, even after the withdrawal request had been confirmed. Both are the reviewers' own accounts, and PropFirmTrading has not verified them.
Who FTMO fits
- ›Swing and news-averse traders who want a no-trailing drawdown and accept a premium for operational reliability. This is the strongest match in the data.
- ›Beginners who value guidance. The education, account analytics and instant support have practical teaching value.
- ›High-scaling systematic traders face the most risk. Repetitive, concentrated exposure is what the one-sided-betting clause targets, and the dispute record shows the outcome.
- ›US residents cannot join.
Traders can compare FTMO's current prices and rules on the FTMO firm profile, or place it next to a cheaper rival in the comparison tool. The fee gap against discount firms is real, and whether the polish justifies it depends on how much a trader values a dashboard that never becomes a dispute.
