Ratings aggregated from publicly posted trader reviews on independent review platforms, captured 21 Oct 2026. PropFirmTrading analyses them and does not collect them.

In short

Breakout's 45 reviews contain no payout disputes and describe withdrawals inside 30 minutes. Every complaint targets the trading terminal and the commission and financing costs.

The PropFirmTrading review

Breakout, owned by Kraken since September 2025, sells simulated one-step evaluations in three programs, from $20 to $1,090 at list price, each with a 3% daily loss limit and a static maximum loss of 3%, 5% or 6%.

A distribution few firms show

Of the thirty-one firms in this trader-review series, only Breakout, E8 Futures and Traders Launch have a public review file with no one-star and no two-star reviews at all, and Breakout is the only crypto firm of the three. The split is 31 five-star, 11 four-star and 3 three-star, for a 4.6 average over 45 reviews. The one Breakout review added between late July and 21 October 2026 was a four-star rating. The sample is small. The absence still matters more than usual, because the categories that fill other firms' one-star columns, payout denials, conduct labels and account confiscations, do not appear once.

The positive columns are concrete: payouts approved same-day, sometimes inside 30 minutes, with the unusual courtesy that traders can keep trading while a payout is pending. Reviewers also cite funded accounts issued within hours of passing, two simple loss limits with no consistency rules, no time limits and no minimum days.

The firm's Kraken backing adds credibility, since Breakout operates alongside Payward, Kraken's corporate family. Reviewers cite it as their reason for trusting the firm in a market segment with a rough reputation. July 2026's flow includes a paid-out $100K reviewer, and earlier paid reviews describe multiple withdrawals without friction.

Where the complaints go

Breakout's critics, including its three-star reviewers, all aim at the same two targets:

  • ›The trading stack. The in-house Breakout Terminal and DXTrade both draw criticism: clumsy position sizing, an unintuitive interface, a weaker mobile and Android experience, and one trader who lost a challenge because the dashboard's daily-reset timer was not where he expected. The market data is fine, but the tooling around it lags the MT5-class experience CFD traders are used to.
  • ›The costs. The 0.04%-per-side commission plus overnight financing (3.3 basis points per day) is repeatedly cited, along with conservative leverage of 5x on BTC/ETH and the Nasdaq 100 and 2x on everything else. On small accounts, the cost structure raises the bar a trader's edge has to clear.

That is the entire complaint file. For a prop firm, having the worst reviews concern commission schedules is an unusual position.

Context from PropFirmTrading coverage

2026 has been Breakout's expansion year. The firm listed the Nasdaq 100 (ticker XYZ100) as its first non-crypto market, trading 24/7 at 5x leverage with a $1M position cap. The full analysis of that launch covers the mechanics and the off-hours pricing caveats. Across the three 1-Step programs (Turbo, Pro, Classic), payouts run daily from day one after funding with a $50 minimum. Specs and current prices are on the Breakout firm profile.

Breakout's remaining risks

Forty-five reviews is a fraction of what the big CFD firms carry, and clean sheets have been dirtied before by scale. The structural risks to keep in view are crypto-only payout rails (a single-rail dependency), a young in-house terminal still maturing, and costs that punish overtrading. None of these are conduct risks. They are product risks a trader can evaluate before buying.

  • ›Traders with cost-sensitive strategies (high frequency, thin edges) should model the commission-plus-financing drag first, since it is the one complaint every critical reviewer shares.
  • ›Traders should learn the daily-reset timing in the dashboard before a first session ends unexpectedly.
  • ›Desktop is preferable to mobile for anything that matters.
